We are moving from working for the boss to being the boss. [] Not only will the number of self-employed workers, consultants, entrepreneurs and free-lancers grow, but the way of work will change it is changing already within the companies themselves: even employees will be expected to develop a new and more enterprising attitude.
From the Preface by Walter Passerini
Finding a job. Changing job.
These were certainly hard operations even some years ago, yet usually limited to one, two, maximum three episodes within an entire career. Today, instead, flexibility, insecurity and volatility have made them a continuous practice. that is to say, these operations have become a job themselves, or at best a sport. just like jogging. and this is exactly what the essence of Jobbing is: the constant and regular-paced race of those who are looking for a job and, sometimes, do not even exactly know which one they are searching for.
WHY JOBBING
This volume is the follow-on to the path started with Generazione Mille Euro. The various meetings we have been invited to have shown that the labour market in italy is flawed because of four main reasons: short-term contracts, low wages, no transparence in recruitment and the lack of meritocracy when selecting or promoting staff.
THE IDEA OF JOBBING
This is why we have created Jobbing: to prove that taking the initiative, being receptive to the market trends and the ability to make up a custom-made job are often rewarded. Professions that were inconceivable until recently, such as Personal Shopper, Destination Manager or Wedding Planner, are just the result of being able to come up with the right idea at the right moment.
WHAT JOBBING IS
Jobbing is a reference guide to find the right way in the labour market. its aim is not to show how to find a job, but which job to look for. it is made up of 100 job descriptions illustrating just as many professions and three final appendixes dedicated to CV writing, job interviews and contract and wage types.
You will be able to understand what each job consists of, which activties denote them, what specific training is required and what technical and social skills are essential to each profile. you will also find out what your future career might hold and what contract types regulate those jobs, including a detailed list of average wage rates. Each profession is classified according to eight market segments: Media & Communication, Fashion & Creativity, Events & Tourism, Marketing & Economics, Administration & HR, Organization & Services, ICT and "Evergreen".
